AFSCME (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO) published a last ditch effort ad in support of H.R. 1586 citing the importance of job growth to moving our economy forward. The AFSCME ad was published in the Tuesday August 10th publications of The Hill, Roll Call and Politico.
H.R. 1586, authorizing $16 billion for Medicaid funding and $10 billion for education, was passed as the U.S. House of Representatives closed out its emergency session this Tuesday, August 10, 2010.  The emergency session was called so funds could be in place in time for the upcoming school year. The bill’s costs will be offset by the reduction of food stamps for families in need.
